Dr. Uday Kiran
MBBS, MD – Psychiatry, Osmania Medical College
Dr. Uday Kiran founded Bharosa after seeing how often psychiatric illness and addiction go untreated because of stigma and poor access to structured care. He is the youngest recipient of the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Award in the field of Psychiatry.
Biography
Dr. Uday Kiran trained in psychiatry at Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad, and brings over 10 years of experience in the healthcare sector, working with patients from diverse medical, social and cultural backgrounds.
Years of clinical exposure showed him an often overlooked truth: psychiatric illness and addiction are among the most prevalent yet least addressed health conditions. Many people suffer silently because of stigma, lack of awareness and inadequate access to structured mental health services.
He chose psychiatry and de-addiction not just as a speciality but as a mission — to restore dignity, functionality and hope to patients and their families. He believes effective treatment must go beyond medication to include medical stability, psychological therapy, nutritional care, rehabilitation and continuous supervision.
“Mental health care is not a privilege, it is a basic human necessity.”
